MCS Hosting Community Meetings

(Memphis)  Parents in southwest Memphis will get a chance this week to learn more about a series of proposed changes for elementary and middle schools in their community.

District leaders will outline a proposed grade reconfiguration that will result in 6th graders being moved from seven elementary schools to three nearby middle schools.

The elementary schools on the list are Coro Lake, Double Tree, Ford Road, Graves, Levi, Westwood and White’s Chapel. The middle schools are Chickasaw, Geeter and Lanier.

As a result of the reconfiguration, school attendance zones in the area will also be changing.

The community meetings on the changes will be held Monday night at Levi Elementary, Wednesday night at Ford Road Elementary and Thursday night at Chickasaw Middle.

All the meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and will last about an hour.
