MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Gene Carlisle, the founder of the Carlisle Corporation has died.

He was 72-years-old.

“It is with our deepest sadness that we confirm the passing of such a great person for whom we have had the pleasure to work with and get to know, Gene Carlisle, Chairman & Founder of Carlisle Corporation,” said the company in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with their entire family, organization, and all the people who love him dearly. We ask that you please give the family their time, space, and privacy while they deal with the tragic passing of their loved one. We will provide further information at a later date.”

According to the Society of Entrepreneurs, at one point Carlisle operated over 100 Wendy’s locations in Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Virginia, Alabama and North Carolina and employing over 4000 people.

Carlisle Corporation was a member of the Main Street Apartment Partners and was responsible for the transformation of the Hotel Chisca into apartments.

In addition, his comapny was one of the developers behind the high rise One Beale.
