Memphis man accused of stabbing wife ten times in face and chest

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After nearly a month on the run, a Memphis man is behind bars, accused of stabbing his wife at least ten times inside their Oakhaven home.

Police say Nekilya Willingham was discovered on the floor of her home on Queensgate with multiple stab wounds to her face, head and chest.

Investigators say she had been stabbed right under the eye and at least four times in the chest.

The victim told officers that her husband, Freddie Willingham, was responsible.

Neighbors said the couple had lived in the home for less than a year and they had no idea there was any trouble.

“That’s terrible for something to happen to someone like that, so quietly. We didn’t know anything. It’s kind of scary,” said Rodney Edwards.

Willingham was also arrested in November of 2014 for allegedly beating up a girlfriend.

He made his first appearance in court Tuesday and is being held on $2 million bond.

No word on how his wife is doing.
