MEMPHIS, Tenn. — On Wednesday, a federal jury found a Memphis man guilty of befriending a teenage runaway and then posting her picture on a sex website.
According to evidence presented in court, Harold Davis met the teen in May of 2014.
He bought the girl a cellphone and a wig, and then posted her image on Backpage.com.
The Department of Justice said the 27-year-old was doing this until he got caught in June 2014 when he was pulled over by a Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The deputy reportedly became suspicious when he discovered the minor in the back of the vehicle surrounded by “an unusually large amount of condoms and female hygiene products.”
Davis was convicted on one count of sex trafficking of a minor and one count of using the internet to conduct an unlawful activity.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 14.
He faces a minimum of ten years all the way up to life behind bars.
