Sutherland Springs, Tx. — Memphis Pastor Steve Gaines and Vice President Mike Pence are in attendance of a prayer vigil in Texas in honor of the victims of the mass shooting at First Baptist Church.
Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Texas on Wednesday to offer his condolences to the victims of the mass shooting at a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, Texas at the hand of a gunman.
Vice President Pence began by praising the family members of the shooting victims.
“It is especially humbling to be with the family of the fallen and injured,” said Vice President Pence. “You honor us by your presence.”
The Vice President also praised community members for offering their support to the victims during their time of need.
“To all the members of the local community, to the faith leaders who are with us here tonight- thank you for your outpouring of support for the people of Texas.”
The Vice President also denounced the “deranged man who took the lives of 26 believers” during the vigil, and he ended his message by praying with Second Lady Karen Pence.
Pastor Steve Gaines also spoke during the prayer vigil.
Pastor Gaines delivered a moving message that garnered the reaction many attendees.
26 people lost their lives in the attack.
