MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Mid-South man was accused of extortion in connection to a recent City Watch case.

On Sunday, Memphis police issued a City Watch Alert for 37-year-old Harvey Watson who left his home around midday. Sometime later, an unknown person called Watson’s mother with threats to harm him if his demands were not met.

Authorities claim that man was James Odom. He reportedly told the woman that he knew where Watson was and would go get him and bring him to her if she paid him $600.

Odom was reportedly caught with Watson’s phone. He also reportedly told investigators that Watson owed him money.

It’s unclear if Watson was ever in any danger. The City Watch Alert has been canceled.
