MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department has identified the three officers who were involved a shooting earlier this month.

Police say a man was killed, and a Memphis Police officer was injured during a shooting at 4545 Aldridge Road.

Officer Jeremy Alexander, Officer Allan Thomasson and Officer Matthew Smith are the officers involved in the shooting.

The suspect was transported to Regional Medical Center and was later pronounced dead.

The officer was transported to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.

Family members identified the suspect as Anthony Bess, who had a warrant for aggravated assault.

Earlier this month MPD put out a BOLO at the same address after an off-duty officer was dragged by a shoplifting suspect’s car outside a Collierville Kroger.

Employees at the Kroger at Houston Levee and Winchester detained the shoplifter after an altercation about 6:30 p.m. last Tuesday.

The officer noticed what was happening and intervened to help, but the suspect got away.

The officer chased after the suspect and was dragged by the getaway vehicle. His knee and leg were scraped, but he was otherwise OK.
