MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police Officer is behind bars after being accused of attacking his girlfriend.
Brian Cofer was arrested on domestic assault charges Saturday morning.
Deputies arrived at the victim’s house and found the living room in what they describe as “extreme disarray”.
They say the victim was hiding in a closet while Cofer was passed out, on the back porch, both with visible injuries.
The woman told investigators they had just arrived home from a bar when Cofer suddenly became violent.
Deputies woke Cofer up, and he told them he’d been drinking.
He also claimed he couldn’t remember what happened at the house.
Brian Cofer is expected to be in court on Monday.
