MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said an accused robber used a simple can of soda as a weapon.

They said the woman was attacked inside her apartment on Getwell.

Marcus Maclin pushed his way into a woman’s apartment, and then reportedly hit her with a coke can.

He then ran away with $20.00.

“It’s stupid for him to hit an innocent woman for 20 dollars. I think he needs help,” said Chris Dickey who lives there.

Tenants said they’re furious after learning Maclin was accused of robbing a woman at Audubon Park Place.

“It’s sad that we got to live like this. It’s pitiful,” said another East Memphis resident

The woman said she fell to the floor and Maclin started dragging her throughout the apartment.

She said he kicked her in the stomach, choked her and took $20 dollars from her pocket.

“I just think it’s wrong to go up on somebody and take 20 dollars from an innocent person,” Dickey stated.

Christopher Dickey, who lives there, said he’s not used to hearing about crime at the apartment complex.

He’s tired of hearing about similar incidents across the city.

“I think it’s terrible. The crime is getting outrageous and I just think we need to do something about it. I feel like it’s not right,” he stated.
