MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Nervous employees called WREG after the hospital sent out a notice not to drink the water.

One described the water as being, as “muddy as the Mississippi.”

Officials with the VA tell WREG patients were never at risk.

Construction crews working outside the hospital’s west side damaged a secondary water line Tuesday afternoon.

They isolated the line and shifted water supply to another feed.

Officials said water fountains were never compromised and tap water was never contaminated, but sediment did slightly change its colors.

The line was repaired and is being chlorinated and flushed.

Crews hope to have all repairs and tests done by the end of tomorrow.

The VA said there has been no impact on patients, employees, or equipment as a result of the water line break.
