(West Memphis, AR) Police in Grand Rapids, Michigan have captured a Crittenden County man who went on the run during his trial on rape charges.
46-year-old Stanley Carter is being held at the Kent County, Michigan jail awaiting extradition back to Arkansas.
Police have been looking for Carter since Wednesday — when he didn’t show up for the final day of his trial.
Even though he wasn’t in court, a jury convicted Carter on charges that he raped three of his ex-girlfriend’s grandchildren.
“Crittenden County Crime Stoppers is very pleased to hear the outcome of this matter. It shows the community that the Crime Stopper Program works and is always there to assist law enforcement in protecting the citizens of our county,” said Capt. Ken Mitchell of the West Memphis Police Dept. in a press release Friday morning.
