MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man in Courtland, Mississippi was taken into custody on Thursday on child porn charges, according to the Panola County Sheriff’s Office.

Benjamin Douglas Wilkes, 30, is charged with possession and access with intent to view child pornography and transportation of child pornography.

The sheriff’s office says the arrest followed the execution of a search warrant on Wilkes’s home by the PCSO, the MS Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Homeland Security.

The South Panola School District confirmed that Wilkes was an employee but says he is no longer employed with the district.

The school district says that, based on information provided by law enforcement, no South Panola County students were connected to his arrest.

Wilkes is listed as a kindergarten assistant on the Batesville Elementary School website.
