MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN) — An officer was treated in the hospital and a suspect is still on the run following a shooting in Madison.

According to investigators, Samuel Quinton Edwards, 34, shot a Hendersonville police officer Monday night during a police chase.

Hendersonville Police Chief Mickey Miller said Officer Colin Ferrell was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-critical injuries. He is doing well and was released from the hospital just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers said Edwards then abandoned his van on Gibson Drive in Madison and fled on foot.

Police think Edwards stole a white Chevy Silverado pickup with front bumper damage, a missing front grill and multiple dents on the body.

Tuesday morning, Millersville police said they located the missing truck on Cycle Lane off Bethel Road.

They are asking people in the area to be on high alert. He was seen wearing a light colored T-shirt, dark shorts and dark tennis shoes. Edward was armed with two long rifles and is considered dangerous.

Heavy police presence on I-65 had parts of the road shutdown near Millersville, close to where the abandoned truck was found. According to the TDOT SmartWay Camera, Interstate-65 southbound at mile marker 104 at Bethel Road was closed Tuesday.

Captain Charles Consiglio with the Millersville Police Department said two separate K-9 officers followed the suspect’s scent, but they each lost it around Mile Marker 103 on I-65.

The TBI has issued a Blue Alert for Edwards stating that he is wanted for attempted criminal homicide and evading arrest.

If you see him, you are asked to call 911 immediately. Millersville police say they have received “credible information” that the suspect is no longer in the immediate area.
