Minimum Age To Buy Cigarettes Goes Up

(New York) The New York City Council has passed a law that pushes the minimum age you can buy cigarettes to 21.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg has already said he will sign it into law and it will be the strictest limits on buying tobacco products of any major American city.

New Jersey and Hawaii are considering similar bills.

Manhattan lawmakers also set a minimum price for a pack of cigarettes.

One pack of cigarettes will now cost $10.50.
