(Memphis) Two missing hunters from Bartlett are in stable condition after being rescued from a remote area at Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park.
Shelby County deputies say the two men were scouting out hunting sites Monday when they got lost in the woods.
They were reported missing Monday night after they didn’t return to Bartlett. Their vehicle was found by park rangers and deputies around 9 p.m. Monday.
It took about four hours for rescue teams to find the men. One was located around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The other was found about an hour later, thanks to assistance from the Memphis Police Department’s aviation unit.
People getting lost in the park is quite common. Deputies say it’s always best to make sure you let someone know where you’re going.
“Unfortunately, people believe that their cell phones and things are going to work and sometimes out here, they don’t work,” said Chief Inspector Dale Lane with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
