Mississippi man wanted by authorities after I-55 shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An arrest warrant was issued for a man accused of opening fire along I-55 back in February.

Antonio Watson, 31, allegedly fired at two people on the interstate near Shelby Drive.

According to an incident report, Watson got in a dispute with two people outside a Southaven restaurant. Once they got in their cars, he continued to follow them north on I-55, eventually shooting at both of them.

The passenger was shot in the arm, and the driver was shot in the face. Police say they both went to the hospital.

Police said Watson is from Robinsonville, Mississippi, and is known to travel often to Tunica and Atlanta, Georgia. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Memphis Police increase presence on interstates, but say city on pace for more shootings

It’s one of 31 interstate shootings in Memphis so far this year. Memphis Police Director Mike Rallings is asking the Tennessee Highway Patrol for help with interstate shootings.

He says these shootings have become too much for police to stay on top of, in addition to their other responsibilities on the streets.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not responded to our questions about if they plan to answer the call.

If you know where he is, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.
