MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Mississippi River has now reached 34 feet, which brings it into minor flood stage.

Moderate flood stage, set at 40 feet, is expected to occur late on Wednesday, Jan. 6.

The river is not expected to hit major flood stage, considered 46 feet.

The predicted crest is 41 feet, about seven feet lower than it was in the damaging 2011 floods. That is expected to happen Jan. 8.

Flood warnings remain in effect until further notice.
