MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Heavy rainfall is expected to pick up in the Mid-South on Sunday evening and through the night.
The National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for the Mississippi River in the Mid-South.
The river is expected to rapidly rise from its level of 23.9 feet as of noon Sunday to about 41 feet by Jan. 9. The river is predicted to rise above flood stage, 34 feet, by Friday, Jan. 1.
The water will rise into the action stage, 28 feet, by Tuesday.
The entire WREG viewing area is also under a Flash Flood Watch.
The NWS advises everyone to stay safe in flooding situations and especially avoid driving through flooded areas. Turn around, don’t drown!
