DESOTO COUNTY, Miss. — Voters head to the polls in Mississippi next week, and many said there were just too many choices.
In all, 13 names will be listed on the ballot come Tuesday.
The special congressional race was scheduled after Alan Nunelee died of brain cancer earlier this year.
People WREG talked with said they’re surprised to know so many people were interested in filling the seat.
“To me it`s confusing when that happens,” said voter Constance Baker.
She said she was afraid the right person for the position would not get the votes.
“People that are not prepared for the position, they`ll just throw their hat in the ring so that when the person that we really need will not get the votes that they need,” she said.
The Desoto County Circuit Clerk, Dale Thompson, told WREG this was the most candidates to show interest in any race in a long time.
For some voters that’s a good thing.
People we spoke to said they planned to spend the next few days researching every candidate.
Voters will head to the polls next Tuesday, May 12.
The Circuit Clerk in Desoto County expects 50% of its voters to turn out.
