MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Moonraker ride at the Delta Fair is open again, the fair’s organizer, Mark Lovell, told WREG.

The Moonraker had been closed ever since Sept. 3’s frightening accident when lap bars on the ride were released early.

It injured 14 riders and sent eight of those to the hospital.

State and local inspectors gave the Delta Fair permission to resume the ride Wednesday, but Lovell said Friday they had to put things on hold.

Lovell rode the ride once it reopened, as he promised.

“I was gonna do it just to show everybody that our rides are safe,” he said Friday.
