That’s because cases of malignant melanoma in light-skinned children are going up.

A new study published in the Journal Pediatrics shows between 1973 and 2009 more than 1,200 Caucasian children were diagnosed with the disease.

The overall rate of pediatric melanoma increased by an average of two percent a year.
