More than $6K in lottery tickets stolen from gas station

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — A man has been charged with burglary and theft of property after allegedly stealing $6,569 in lottery tickets and $1,000 in cash from a gas station, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

The incident happened at a Shell station in the 5500 block of Airline Road on Thursday.

Memphis Police officers learned someone was attempting to cash the tickets in the 2100 block of Lamar Avenue, where they found a car in the parking lot that matched the description of the suspect’s.

The Sheriff’s Office said police took Jessie Isom, 37, into custody, and the suspect admitted to working with another man to commit the crime.

At Isom’s residence, detectives found a number of lottery ticket cases, lottery tickets and a hammer used to break the window.

This is an ongoing investigation.
