MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman has been arrested after police say she threatened to blow up a local elementary school.
Loretta Clayton-Treadwell, 30, is accused of threatening to blow up Getwell Elementary School because her son’s backpack was missing.
MPD said Clayton called the school Wednesday asking about the backpack. Court documents state the angry mother also told the assistant principal that some kids will end up missing.
Police say Clayton called back again but this time she spoke to the principal. According to the principal, the mother called earlier in the week asking about her son’s belongings.
According to the affidavit, Clayton told the principal she never made any threats to blow up the school. She said that she only said some kids were going to go missing.
The mother was arrested later that day. Police do not say if she had any weapons in her possession.
Clayton-Treadwell was charged with threat of mass violence on school property.
