Mother Of Missing Baby Will Ask For Lower Bond

Andrea and Aniston Walker

(Memphis) A Memphis mother will stay in jail for now after her 7-week-old baby disappeared.

Andrea Walker is hoping a judge lowers her bond from $500,000 to $25,000.

Attorney Leslie Ballin said prosecutors are not being reasonable when it comes to his client.

“That is pretty darn high in our humble opinion,” said Ballin.

Walker was arrested after she told police she left her baby, Aniston Walker, with her 3-year-old when she took another child to school Thursday morning.

When she came home, Aniston wasn’t there.

Police say Walker knows what happened to baby Aniston, but isn’t telling the truth.

“My client has given a statement to police that I have been informed is consistent with her innocence. Whether or not she’s not cooperating with police, because they didn’t hear from her what they wanted to hear, maybe so,” said Ballin.

Ballin said his client has no criminal history. She has a full-time job with the IRS and is not a flight-risk.

Attorney General Amy Weirich said Walker’s bond is fair.

“We will be setting forth factors as to why it should stay the way it is,” she said.

In the meantime, police called off their search until they can get a lead. They say they’ve looked everywhere, but there has been no sign if baby Aniston.

“As far as where the child is, isn’t that the $24,000 question,” said Ballin.

Walker’s bond reduction hearing is set for Tuesday, January 21st.
