(West Memphis, Arkansas 1/23/2012) Pam Hobbs is looking for closure after 20 years.
She still doesn’t know who killed her 8-year-old son Stevie Branch and his friends Christopher Byers and Michael Moore.
Early on there were suspicions that her ex-husband Terry Hobbs may have been involved.
Now newly released evidence implicating Terry Hobbs has Pam Hobbs raising her own doubts about the man she once trusted.
“Yes I do have doubts. I have questions. I am scared and I am fearful,” says Pam Hobbs.
Since Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin were set free last year after being convicted in the case, they vowed to find the real killers.
Last week Echols attorney released statements from witnesses, members of Terry Hobbs own family, who say they heard him confess to the killings.
” They have passed polygraph tests. What would these guys, what would they accomplish in trying to do something like this is my question, if they had not overheard this?” says Hobbs.
Still angry over how West Memphis Police and then prosecutors handled the case from the start, Pam Hobbs and her family turned over evidence they found to Defense Attorneys.
They turned over knives that belonged to Terry Hobbs, among them one that also belonged to eight year old Stevie.
“We knew the defense would not sweep it under the rug and actually take it seriously and thank God that happened,” says Hobbs.
With reports of Terry Hobbs’ DNA found on one of the victim’s shoes, we asked Pam Hobbs if she thinks her ex husband was involved in the killings.
“Today I am numb about Terry. I am convinced in my heart that Todd Moore and Mark Byers had nothing to do with it. I don’t know what to think about Terry,” says Pam Hobbs.
“This is evidence. I demand the state take this seriously. Justice has not prevailed for me,” she says.
Pam Hobbs says she is convinced Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin are innocent.
We reached out to try and talk to Terry Hobbs after news about the new evidence came out last week. He refused to comment.
