(Memphis) Jamina Briggs has been charged with the murders of her two children.
Police say Briggs called police Wednesday night saying she had stabbed her sons.
It happened at the Tillman Cove Apartments on Tillman Street.
Police say they found a 6-year-old and 23-month-old on a couch, each with multiple stab wounds.
Briggs is charged with two (2) counts first-degree murder in perpetration of a felony to wit aggravated child abuse/neglect.
Neighbors said this was an unimaginable crime and they can’t understand how anyone could hurt their own children.
One woman said the mother told her she had spent time at a psychiatric hospital.
Still, she said she never thought the woman’s problems would lead to anything like this.
One young father said right now he just want to keep his kids close to him.
“It’s very hard to understand. It’s heart wrenching,” said Lonnie Seymour.
“She needs to get a lot of help because I don’t understand why someone would just stab their kids like that,” said neighbor Regina Washington.
