Mothers rally for peace

MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Dozens rallied for peace at the corner of Bellevue and South Parkway, Saturday.

Rally organizer Bridget Bradley, with Memphis Mothers Against Violence, says Memphis has a problem to fight.

“There`s nothing against protesting in New York and Ferguson. I want them to protest because it was senseless. My thing right now, I’m concerned about Memphis.

Bradley to points to this week`s murder of Scottie Meeks outside his home as a reason for peace.

Police say, two men gunned down the 22-year-old while he was carrying his 2-year-ld son.

The toddler was shot too.

“The two-year-old child that`s in the hospital now. It’s senseless. It’s absolutely senseless. We have to put these guns down. We have to speak up for children,” said Bradley.

The group hopes to hold peace rallies all across the city once a month.

“We want a future for them coming up in Memphis, not death,” said Bradley.
