MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A pedestrian was struck by two cars in North Memphis, and now Memphis Police said they are looking for one of the vehicles.

Police said one of the cars sped off.

Thursday night around 10:30, officers responded to the accident on Jackson Avenue near Ronnie.

Police said Erika Hay, 29, was dead in the road.

Police believed Hay was walking east to west across Jackson when a Cadillac Deville hit her.

She was not in a crosswalk.

After that impact knocked Hay down, a silver Pontiac Grand Prix hit her.

The driver of that vehicle sped off.

Mindful that Hay was not in a crosswalk, police did not cite the driver of the Deville.

However, officers told WREG they are looking for the driver who fled the scene.

WREG spoke with an employee at the gas station on Jackson, near where the accident happened.

Marc Keller said Hay was a regular customer at the store.

“She used to come in almost every single day,” Keller said.

He said it is not uncommon for people to jaywalk across Jackson.

Keller said he wished the driver would have acted responsibly and stayed at the scene of the accident.
