MEMPHIS, Ten. — A man has been charged with theft of property $10,000-$60,000 after police learned he was in possession of a stolen Honda after finding him hiding in a dryer.
On Thursday at 3:40 p.m., a woman reported to the police that her silver 2020 Honda Accord was stolen from the Kroger located at 2835 Kirby Road while she was pumping gas.
According to the police report, the vehicle was valued at $23,153.
On Friday, at 9:30 a.m., detectives with the Memphis Police Fugitive Unit attempted to locate Marshawn Roberts, a man with multiple felony warrants at a residence in the 2400 block of Rammesses.
Detectives were granted access to the residence and found Roberts hiding in a dryer. He was taken into custody.
Inside the dryer, were Roberts’ cell phone and a key fob. Detectives pushed the alarm activation button on the key fob and the alarm of a silver 2020 Honda Accord began to go off in front of the residence.
Detectives learned this was the same Honda that was reported stolen the day before.
Roberts is being held on $10,000 bond.
