MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man and woman are facing robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges after police said they abducted a woman, beat and robbed her.
Police arrested Shelley Cain, 38, and Luis Jimenez, 50, on Wednesday.
Police said the two kidnapped the woman at a club near White Station and Summer.
However, the club the police affidavit named was not one that folks in the area have heard of.
The arrest affidavit said they drove off, and the victim tried to run away near Holmes and East Johnson Circle.
“It’s awful. It’s crazy,” said Erma Jones who lived nearby.
She said she heard one of her neighbors heard the woman’s cries for help Sunday, as Cain and Jimenez beat her and stole her purse.
The purse contained $5,000 cash.
Jones believed one of her neighbors called 911.
WREG stopped by an address listed for Cain Thursday.
The woman in the front lawn said Cain was not home but would not speak about the allegations.
Cain was scheduled to be in court on Friday.
She has bonded out of jail.
Jimenez remains in jail as of Thursday evening, and was scheduled to be in court next week.
