MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two women were killed and one person injured after a vehicle driving the wrong way on Interstate 55 caused a multi-car crash early Sunday morning. Police said drugs may have been involved.
Memphis Police said the three-vehicle crash happened just before 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-55 near Brooks Road. Police identified the deceased women as Jalissa Elliott, 18, and Sabrina Cobb, 49. Another person was in non-critical condition.
According to the crash report, a 15-year-old girl who claimed to have been in the car with Elliott told authorities the pair had just left a party where Elliott “got ‘high’ on some acid and LSD.” They were driving away when she “started ‘trippin’ from the drugs.”
That’s when she told the 15-year-old she was going to kill them because “we are not real” and started trying to hit other vehicles. The teen was able to get out of the car before Jalissa pulled off “continuing on the interstate trying to hit cars.”
Her car was found down the interstate, having crashed into two other vehicles, police said.
