(Memphis) A Memphis police officer has been indicted in connection with a rape investigation.

According to Shelby County D.A. Amy Weirich, Officer Aaron Reinsberg is charged with 3 counts of rape and 2 counts of official misconduct.

He turned himself in on Friday and was released on $100,000 bond.

According to the D.A., a woman says she met Reinsberg on Beale Street while he was off-duty in January.

She says she exchanged numbers with him and then went home.

Reinsberg is then accused of using his cell phone to find her address using county law enforcement databases.

Investigators say he went to the victims home and was allowed inside by her roommate.

The victim says she woke up with Reinsberg on top of her, raping her.

If convicted, Reinsberg faces up to 30 years in prison on the rape charges and up to 6 years in prison on the misconduct charges.

Officer Reinsberg has been suspended with pay. He has been on the force since January 2011 assigned to the Entertainment District Unit.

MPD Director Toney Armstrong released this statement late Friday night:

“Any officer who feels they can act outside the realm of laws is sadly mistaken. The Memphis Police Department will not tolerate this type of behavior from any person, especially those sworn to uphold the law.”
