MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Police Department showed that when it loses one of its own, its officers come together to stand by family even years after the tragedy.

Four years ago, Officer Tim Warren was shot and killed in the line of duty.

His family is still feeling the loss. Warren’s daughter recently received an invitation to a father-daughter dance, according to an MPD Facebook post.

Warren’s widow, who has continued to support MPD throughout the years since her husband’s death, reached out to an MPD officer’s wife and a Memphis firefighter’s widow who founded the Our Fallen Heroes Foundation to see if there was a way for her daughter to enjoy the night.

The two woman helped get together several officers to escort the daughter to the dance.  The officers treated her to a trip to Sweet and Sassy, gave her roses and brought her to the dance in style in a classic 1972 Cutlass Supreme.

The officers were glad to be able to support Warren’s memory by being by his daughter’s side.

“We know we cannot replace Tim, but we can be there for his family when we are needed,” Officer Amen said. “It was truly a honor.”

“It was an honor to be able to attend this event and to help keep Tim’s memory alive,” Officer Pfeil said.
