MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are on heightened alert after a relative of the suspect killed during an officer-involved shooting threatened authorities.

The man called a local precinct, identified himself as the brother of the suspect, and said he was going to kill police officers.

All officers were told to double up tonight, meaning two officers to each car.

On Wednesday, officers had just called off a car chase on South Parkway when the suspects they were chasing crashed into two vehicles.

The suspects reportedly jumped out of the car and the officers gave pursuit again.

At one point, one of the suspects opened fire on authorities, and an exchange of gunfire took place.

One suspect was killed, while the other managed to escape.

The TBI has taken over the investigation.

This is a developing story.
