MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two people were injured in a shooting inside of Incredible Pizza in Cordova, according to Memphis Police.
MPD said the shooting happened Saturday afternoon. Two families were reportedly involved in an argument, and shots were fired.
One person was transported to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition, while another went in critical condition.
Cell phone footage taken by people inside show the chaos as it happened. People inside the restaurant when the shooting occurred told WREG-TV that they feared for their lives.
“We didn’t know where it was coming from. People just started running because it was over…looked like seven or eight-hundred people in here,” said Barbara Miggins, who was visiting Incredible Pizza.
Miggins says she was visiting the entertainment center from out of town with her family when the shooting took place.
“We all just drove up. We went in and paid for our…got ready to pay for our tickets and everything. We hear gunshots just going everywhere, and it just blew my mind,” Miggins said.
Shirl Dowdy says she was there just moments before the shooting and says nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“It wasn’t nothing going on. Nothing at all as far as this right here. No,” said Dowdy.
We spoke to an employee who didn’t want to be identified but says he saw one of the victims lying in the pizza area.
“The second one, she was a lady because I saw her laying on the floor. When I went in there, they were putting her on a stretcher,” said the employee.
Patrons we spoke to say there were dozens of children inside when the shooting happened, but there have been no reports of children being shot or injured
“We need to put down these guns. We need to respect these babies because these babies didn’t ask to be here. It’s up to all of us to make sure they’re safe,” Dowdy said.
Additionally, Memphis Police said one person is detained.
Incredible Pizza issued a statement on the shooting and said the business will be closed on Sunday and Monday.
On Saturday, July 24th, there was an incident at our Incredible Pizza in Cordova, Tennessee. We wish a full and speedy recovery for those who were injured this afternoon. We express our gratitude not only to our management, staff, and security detail for their immediate implementation of our emergency response plan, but also to the Memphis Police and Fire Departments for their promptness in being on the scene.
