MPD searching for suspect after shots fired on the interstate

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police are searching for the person responsible for firing shots on I-240, near Airways, early Saturday morning.

Police say a man and his girlfriend were driving east on I-240 when they saw a dark colored sedan driving erratically ahead of them.


The victim says the car pulled over in the emergency lane on the right side. As he continued to pass the car, he saw the suspect put his hand near the driver’s window. Both victims heard a loud pop and the front windows of the victim’s car shattered.

The victims flagged down police at near Getwell and I-240 around 3:02 a.m.

According to the police report, the victims did not see where the car went but say it was either Toyota Camry or Honda Accord.

Police say neither victim was injured.
