MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Some our Memphis officers are in Cleveland for the Republican National Convention.

Memphis Police said it has sent 14 officers, made up of training officers and a task force officer from each precinct. The officers will help with security at the convention.

The officers are going for training and experience with large crowds and events so MPD can be best prepared for any such events in its future, an MPD spokesman said.

Cleveland will pay the officers’ salaries while they are there.

The convention runs through July 21.
