MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police said a robbery led to gunfire at the Country Oaks Apartments late Monday night.
They said it started with a man standing outside his apartment, smoking a cigarette. Reportedly, four men forced him back inside.
“I didn’t hear nothing but a couple of gun shots,” said neighbor Kymberliegh Martin.
Martin heard the violence that came next.
The report from Memphis Police notes at least two of the suspects wore bandannas over their faces and had guns.
There were four victims in the apartment, two men and their girlfriends. Police said the suspects forced them to the floor. One of them shot a male victim in the left leg, reportedly because he moved.
“I was shocked. I can’t believe it. I mean it was kind of scary,” Martin said.
Police said the suspects got away with cash and a 60-inch TV.
All that was left of them was a cigar and cigar wrapper that police believe one of the suspects dropped.
“Like I said, it does shock me because it’s a quiet neighborhood, quiet apartment, you never expect something like that to happen, but I hope they’re okay,” said neighbor Shannon White.
Tuesday, people were in the victims’ apartment. They said everybody is all right.
The suspects have not been arrested.
