Memphis, Tenn. — Memphis police arrested a woman accused of killing her 2-year-old son.
Crime tape still sits at a Spring Court apartment where Jaylen Dodson lost his life.
WREG tried seeing if anyone lives in the apartment but were told by residents the 2-year-old’s mother, Davida Wooden, may have lived alone.
Wooden was arrested Saturday morning charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child neglect and aggravated child abuse.
“I don’t understand how you could do that to someone who doesn’t even have a thought process yet or understand right from wrong,” Corey Miles, a resident near the complex, said
Another neighbor, Michael Armstrong, has been living at the complex for years but doesn’t know wooden.
He has two kids of his own and is disturbed to hear something like this happening just across from his home.
“She should be punished for something like that,” Armstrong said. “I’m very protective of my kids so I don’t know what I would do if I came home and something like that happened.”
When officers arrived at the apartment Thursday, they found the two-year-old unresponsive and with multiple injuries to his head caused by blunt force trauma. He was pronounced dead at Baptist Children’s Hospital.
