JACKSON, Miss. — More than a dozen Mississippi fire departments will receive more than $1.4 million in grants from the state.
According to reports, the money was given to sixteen departments to enhance their operations and safety efforts.
“Firefighters and other first responders protect and serve us at a great personal risk,” said U.S. Senator Thad Cochran. ” I am pleased that these grants will help ensure that they are as well-equipped and well-trained as possible.”
The grant, totaling $1,449,920, will support the following departments:
- City of Greenville Fire Department
- Lafayette County Volunteer Fire Department
- Oktibbeha County District #5 Volunteer Fire Department
- Natchez Fire Department
- Town of Mathiston
- Laurel Fire Department
- Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department
- Longtown Fire Department
- Pope Volunteer Fire Department
- Myrtle Volunteer Fire Department
- Hickory Flat Volunteer Fire Department
- Brandon Fire Department
- Mount Olivet Fire Department
- Hattiesburg Fire Department
- Metcalfe Volunteer Fire Department
- Mount Olive Volunteer Fire and Rescue
