JACKSON, Miss. — Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant has ordered all flags in the state to be flown at half-staff in remembrance of those who lost their lives at Umpqua Community College on Thursday.

The executive order was signed on Thursday and released to the media on Friday.

It stated that all flags were to be lowered at noon on Friday, October 2 and remain there until sunset on Monday, October 5.

On Thursday, at least nine people were killed at the college in Roseburg, Oregon after a gunman entered a building and opened fire.

Reports indicated at least 20 people were also hurt in the chaos that followed.

The gunman was killed on the scene.
