MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A metal utility pole went through the window of a vehicle Wednesday night on Interstate 240, badly injuring the driver, police said.

A wreck involving one vehicle and a light pole at I-240 and Lamar blocked traffic around 7:30.

Photos from the scene show a pole going through the driver’s side and passenger-side windows.

Police said a 25-year-old man was taken to Regional One Hospital. His condition is not known Thursday.

A witness at the scene who said she pulled the man out of the car said she did not know how the wreck happened.
