BYHALIA, Miss. — The Marshall County coroner has identified a 6-year-old killed in a wreck in Byhalia that sent three other juveniles to the hospital Tuesday morning.
Kendal Williams died in the accident, the coroner said.
The accident happened on Hernando Road near Highway 309. We’re told the car went off the road and hit several trees, but did not roll over.
One man who lives near the scene told WREG he heard the crash and ran to the victims’ aid. He said there were five people involved: an adult and four children ages 6, 10, 13 and 16.
He helped direct traffic until authorities arrived on the scene.
The three older children are reportedly in stable condition. The Marshall County sheriff’s office says the child who was killed was not ejected from the vehicle.
The children were reportedly on their way to school in Tate County.
The driver, who is related to the 6-year-old, told deputies her brakes failed, but that is still under investigation.
