DENVER — There was a huge police presence in downtown Denver Tuesday afternoon as police responded to an “active shooting scene.”
Denver police reported it as an active shooter situation and originally said there were multiple victims. However, Denver Police later mentioned only one victim, and Denver Health Medical Center said it doesn’t expect more.
It happened inside the Alliance Center, just blocks from the University of Colorado Denver, police confirmed.
The victim is in critical condition after being shot multiple times. Police said preliminary information suggested she was targeted.
Police said they found the male suspect dead from what looked like a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Surrounding streets were closed, and people are being asked to avoid the area.
The first 911 call reported a male with a gun.
