(Munford, TN) The Munford Police Department has charged a Munford High School student with aggravated sexual assault.
A 17-year-old female student said she was sexually assaulted by a 17-year-old male student inside Munford High.
It is not clear if the 17-year-old male will be charged as an adult.
The grandmother of the girl making the claim told News Channel 3 her granddaughter was walking from the cafeteria to home room when she was attacked.
She said the school did not take her granddaughter to the hospital and did not call the family until two hours after the attack.
“I cannot comment on the details of that, but I can tell you that or investigation is currently underway,” said Principal Courtney Fee.
The grandmother ended up taking her granddaughter to the hospital. She said she was crying all afternoon.
The school wants to let parents know they are not taking this situation lightly. Officials hope to have answers soon.
“We will work right along side the school resource officer to make sure our students are safe to make sure situations are dealt with appropriately. Safety is our number one priority,” said Fee.
The school resource officer was the one who reported the attack to police.
