Murdered Marion teen’s family has a message for the killers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — 16-year-old Jacameron Macklin was gunned down inside of his Marion, Arkansas, home Friday night.

It was his mother who discovered his body.

“Own up to what you did. If you are as hardcore as you think you are, and you’re out here saying you’re as hardcore as you think you are, own up to it and go do your time,” Mallory Halsell, the victim’s aunt, said.

Family members want justice for Macklin’s murder.

“This is just tragic. Tragic,” Halsell said.

Macklin was killed at a home on Sherwood Cove.

Police are searching for the bad guys after neighbors said they heard at least four gunshots.

Family members told WREG the shooting happened during a home invasion.

Macklin was a 10th-grader at West Memphis High School — a football player with big dreams that family members say were taken away far too soon.

“It was snatched. It was snatched,” Halsell explained.

It was not clear if the teen knows the gunman, but his loved ones said it is unlikely because he was not mixed up in any beef.

“Anybody around here can tell you that he caused no problem with no one. He was a great child,” Halsell said.

Police are asking for the public’s help with any clues or details that might help find those responsible.

“I hope you go to prison. I don’t even wish the death penalty on you. I hope that you sit in there for the rest of your life and suffer,” Halsell said.

Classmates are holding a candlelight vigil for Macklin on Thursday at 5 p.m. at West Memphis High School.
