MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The governor of Minnesota says he doesn’t think Philando Castile would be dead if he’d been a white man.
Local mothers and fathers said due to the recent violence, they’re forced to have a conversation with their young black children.
The NAACP in Memphis also spoke out Thursday releasing the following statement:
Again we view the senseless killing of African Americans by police officers in Baton Rouge, LA and St. Paul MN. We mourn for the families, and demand justice for the victims. We have clear evidence of murder by police in direct contact with citizens who present no immediate threat to the officers, yet they are shot at point blank range multiple times. Technology has brought the evidence directly to us and all who will view and review the brutality imposed on these victims.
How much longer will we be forced to endure these atrocities? There must be some accountability for these events. We ask for peace but there can be no peace in knowing that on any day you or a member of your family could be next.
