MEMPHIS, Tenn. — An alleged rapist is off of the streets and behind bars.

Police said Antwon Rainer kidnapped a woman in the area of Airways and Ketchum Road, raped her and her woman against her will Friday night.

According to Memphis Police, the woman was walking when a truck pulled up beside her.

Officers reported Rainer yelled at the woman, eventually pulled his truck over, walked up behind the woman and grabbed her around the neck.

“I don’t know what I’d do,” Monique Davis said.

Rainer allegedly told the woman he would kill her if she said anything.

Once in his vehicle, police said Rainer told the woman that she was his girlfriend, and she was not going anywhere.

“For somebody to just come up to you and say, you know, I’m fitting to take you we got to go now, you know, I’m fitting to do this to you. That’s crazy,” Davis explained.

Officers said Rainer drove from South Memphis to an apartment complex off of Dunsford Way.

“That’s kind of scary,” Willie Gorman said.

Neighbors were shocked to hear that once inside the woman told police she was raped for a half an hour.

“That could have been my wife if I had one, a girlfriend or whatever,” Gorman told WREG.

The woman was able to escape by running out of the house naked and calling for help.

“You grown. You shouldn’t have to take anything from nobody,” Davis said.

Police said Rainer followed the woman and they eventually caught up to him.

Rainer is charged with aggravated assault, rape, and kidnapping.

He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond and is expected in court on Monday.
