NCAA reportedly finds numerous violations against Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. — Numerous reports are indicating the University of Mississippi has been notified the NCAA has found numerous violations involving several of their sports teams.

According to reports from ESPN, the rule violations are connected to the university’s football, women’s basketball, and track and field teams.

The majority of the football allegations reportedly stemmed from before current head coach Hugh Freeze took over in 2011.

Left tackle Laremy Tunsil was at the center of one violation during the 2015 season after he reportedly received benefits.

He missed seven games as a result.

The university has reportedly already self-imposed penalties.

ESPN was told they had been expecting a notice of the allegations for some time.

Ole Miss Athletic Director Ross Bjork declined to elaborate on the allegations in a statement Friday.

“As has been the case for the past three years, we are bound by confidentiality and cannot comment publicly on the matter,” Bjork said. “However, I can say that I’m confident in how our coaches and staff operate our program, and we take compliance, NCAA and SEC rules very seriously. We are working hard to seek a resolution to this matter.”

The NCAA does not comment on current, pending or potential investigations.
