NEBRASKA — A Nebraska woman was bitten by a tiger on Halloween night after she broke into the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha.

According to a Facebook post made by the Omaha Police Department, officers received a call from the Creighton University Medical Center stating personnel were having trouble with a woman.

She was acting aggressively toward staff as they were trying to treat her left hand.

Police later found out, the woman, Jacqueline Eide, and another person had somehow gotten inside the zoo around 4 a.m. Sunday for the sole purpose of petting the tiger.

When Eide went to pet the animal, it bit her hand, sending her to the hospital.

Authorities have confirmed she was drunk or under the influence of an unknown substance.

Officials with the Omaha Zoo said they believe the Eide was bitten by Mai, an 18-year-old Malayan tiger who is missing her front left leg.

Mai has been with the zoo since 2003, reported Omaha.com.

THV11 reported the zoo has stated they aren’t sure how Eide made it past security, but they will be installing more security features to prevent this from happening again.

In addition, they will not be punishing Mai for the incident or change anything about her lifestyle.
